So, What's New?
Pegged as the "slimmest" generation yet, the Galaxy Watch8 series promises a more versatile experience for wearers, with a new sophisticated design, advanced health tracking and integration of AI capabilities. There's also more possible storage and a new Biometric sensor as well, first in a smartwatch ever.
- Design & Colours
With a profile of just 8.6mm thick, the Watch8 models are 11% slimmer than the Watch7 series. They include an improved Dynamic Lug System that enables the watch to hug snugly around the wrist, reducing gaps and improving the overall fit for better sensor accuracy and comfort.
What's also new is that the Galaxy Watch8 Classic now comes with double the storage at 64GB than previous generation with only 32GB.
The "cushion design", which was first introduced in the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025, has now extended to the Watch8 series, ensuring improved precision for health tracking and a more comfortable wear. The Classic model also has the standard physical rotating bezel, so you can maneuver through apps and settings with a simple turn, either clockwise or anticlockwise.
The new Galaxy Watch8 will be available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, in either Graphite or Silver finishes. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch8 Classic comes in a 46mm size, in classic Black or White.
- New Health & Wellness Features
The watches include a world-first Antioxidant Index, accurately measuring carotenoids in your skin in just five seconds. By placing your thumb on the sensor, the watch will let you know if you've had adequate or inadequate levels of an antioxidants.
As expected, the watch will also come with the usual vitals measure features, such as Vascular Load metric that assesses overnight body stress and heart recovery. Plus, it also offers a comprehensive view of your daily energy levels.
The watches also offer a Bedtime Guidance that suggests your ideal bedtime based on your sleep patterns in the last three days. For runners, the watch is also equipped with an improved Running Coach that provides better running skills analysis, real-time feedback, and personalised coaching after a 12-minute test run.
- More Software Updates & AI Integration
The new Galaxy Watch8 series feature a significantly brighter display, reaching a peak of 3,000 nits, so you don't have to squint down at your watch under direct sunlight. Plus, both models offer more precise tracking for outdoor activities with dual GPS capabilities.
The Galaxy Watch8 series runs on One UI 8 built on Wear OS6 through collaboration with Google. A major highlight is the built-in Gemini, which allows for more intelligent voice commands and proactive suggestions. The watches also offer App Suggestions based on your usage.
Plus, there are a few improvements coming to the One UI 8. Enjoy the visuals of the Glanceable Tiles which are arranged for a more informative view of widgets that show key information at a glance. There's also "Depthless Notifications" that organises your notifications more clearly for less clutter.
The Now Bar is also now on Galaxy Watch8 series, serving as a widget system on the watch face, similar to how it works on Galaxy smartphones.
