Samsung's topline foldable phone in its Galaxy Z series, the Z Fold7, was unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025, held in New York, USA on 9 July 2025 (9 July, 10PM MYT).
Prices start from RM7,799 / USD1,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant, with available pre-order promos for Malaysians effective from 9 July 2025.

TLDR: Mix of Hardware & Software
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is packed with a mix of hardware and software (AI) updates this time. It's slated to offer a good mix of real-life useability between different users and high-producitity capabilities. There's now a stronger hinge, better folding-screen & a shiny 200MP camera—first ever in a foldable smartphone.
- Processing power
This time, the Galaxy Z Fold7 will be utilising the Snapdragon 8 elite for Galaxy. It's reported to have a boost in NPU by 41% more, CPU by 38% and GPU by 26%. It is the same CPU as the one in Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is meant to have enhanced power on-device AI, support for multimodal Gen AI and personalization, as well as voice, text, and image AI prompts.
Battery-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold7 has a 4,400mAh battery that promises 24 hours video playback. Like the rest of the series, Galaxy Z Fold7 will also have 7 years of security and OS updates.
- Design
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is at 8.9mm when folded, and 4.2mm when unfolded. For the latter, Samsung says that it is the slimmest foldable in the market yet.
A significant point Samsung made for the Fold7 (vs Fold6) is that it now has a stronger Armor FlexHinge, with a water droplet design as well as being enforced with a multi-rail structure meant to disperse stress and protect display while the screen folds. Not only that, Samsung says that the Fold7 has a different adhesive for the screen now, so it should withstand folds better and not bubble as easily.
Galaxy Z Fold7 should be quite durable in its form factor, as it is made with the likes of Grade 4 Titanium Lattice for strong corrosion resistance.
- Screen
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is currently the biggest foldable yet when unfolded, at 8-inch in size. Its screen is a dynamic AMOLED 2x display panel, and protected by Corning Gorilla Victus Glass 2.
Unfortunately, due to low popularity, this generation of Galaxy Z Fold7 will not have S Pen support at all. This includes any new and previous generations of S Pens.
- Camera
With a tri-camera setup, the Galaxy Z Fold7 will be the first foldable in the market to have a 200MP rear wide sensor camera, alongside a 12MP ultra wide and 10MP telephoto rear lens. Meanwhile the front screen camera will be a 10MP lens (cover) and a 10MP under-display camera.
Samsung also promises better Nightography enhancements; the Galaxy Z Fold7 is now capable of taking 10-bit HDR video with 4x wider colour gamut range whether in the day or night.
