Samsung has now officially confirmed that One UI 8.0 will launch today, 9 July, bringing with it the most advanced security features to date.
Debuting with the new foldable phones, this upgraded security suite will soon roll out to existing Galaxy devices.
This comprehensive update integrates cutting-edge technologies like quantum-resistant encryption, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), and an upgraded Knox Matrix.
Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP)
At the core of these highly personal AI experiences is Samsung's Personal Data Engine (PDE), first introduced with the Galaxy S25 series. The PDE silently learns from your habits and preferences to tailor your mobile experience to you.
The PDE processes your data entirely on-device, so the personal AI on your phone doesn't compromise your privacy.
KEEP creates encrypted, app-specific storage environments within your device's secure area, ensuring each app, including the PDE, can access only its own sensitive information. KEEP now also safeguards other Galaxy AI features like Smart Suggestions and Samsung Moments, running quietly in the background.
With One UI 8, Knox Matrix has been updated for a more proactive and user-friendly protection for all your connected Galaxy devices. If a device is flagged for a serious risk, such as system manipulation or identity forgery, Knox Matrix will automatically sign out of your Samsung Account, cutting off access to cloud-connected services to prevent threats from spreading across your ecosystem.
You'll be notified across your connected Galaxy devices and guided to a 'Security status of your devices' page to review the issue and take action. Even devices without the latest security updates will trigger a yellow-level warning, helping you respond before vulnerabilities become critical.
Quantum-Resistant Wi-Fi
One UI 8 will also upgrade Secure Wi-Fi to support Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection (EDP).
Secure Wi-Fi is now being upgraded with a new cryptographic framework, built to withstand future attacks by quantum computers, protecting your data even if it's "harvested now" to be decrypted later.
Beyond this quantum-safe foundation, Secure Wi-Fi offers the following advanced privacy features:

Auto Protect: Automatically activates in public places like cafés or airports, securing Wi-Fi connections without any user action.

Enhanced Privacy Protection (EPP): Encrypts internet traffic and routes it through multiple layers, combining packet encryption and relay to anonymise device information and help prevent tracking.

Protection Activity: Clear visibility into your protection history, showing which apps and networks were secured and how much data was encrypted over time.
More Built-In Safeguards
Beyond these latest innovations, Samsung continues to strengthen the core protections that underpin the entire Galaxy experience. This multi-layered security approach protects across both hardware and software, while giving you greater visibility and control:

Knox Vault: Secures sensitive credentials like passwords, PINs, and biometrics in a physically isolated environment, keeping them protected even if the main operating system is compromised.

Auto Blocker: Provides a defence by default, blocking unauthorised app installs, restricting command-based attacks, and mitigating risks from potential "zero-click" threats.

Advanced Intelligence Settings: Gives you the option to turn off online data processing for AI features, ensuring your personal information can stay entirely on your device, fully under your control.

Enhanced Theft Protection: Helps protect your personal data even in high-risk situations like robbery, using safeguards like Identity Check and Security Delay to prevent unauthorised access.
