Google has just rolled out an update (version 25.24.1), bringing the Google Calendar app to the Apple Watch. You can now check your appointments and tasks directly on your wrist, adding another Google-owned app alongside Google Keep, Google Maps, and YouTube Music already available on Apple's smartwatch.
Your Schedule On Your Wrist
The new Google Calendar app for Apple Watch displays a week's worth of events and Google Tasks in a simple list view.
For even quicker access, Google Calendar also offers two complications (small specific widgets on your watch face):
-
"Today's date": A circular complication showing the abbreviated day and date.
-
"What's next": This can appear as a circle, rectangle, or a Smart Stack widget, displaying your next appointment.
You don't have to pull out your phone to check your schedule, you just need to tap on either of these complications to open the Google Calendar app on your watch.

Limitations: What It Doesn't Do (Yet)
Google Calendar being on your Apple Watch is a welcome addition for many, but it's only offers a list view of events for the week. Meanwhile, Apple's native Calendar app on watchOS can already sync with your Google Calendar, providing a view for both the week and the month.
You cannot create new events or set reminders directly from the watch app. If you try to tap on an event for more details, you'll often be prompted to "Open Calendar on your phone to view more." So, the watch app is currently more for quick viewing rather than full management. Its functionality is quite similar to what's offered on Wear OS devices.
In conclusion, the arrival of Google Calendar on Apple Watch is a useful addition for those deeply integrated into Google's services, offering quick glances at your schedule. However, its current simplicity means it acts more as a convenient quick-reference tool than a full-fledged calendar management system for your wrist.
