Just half a decade ago smartphones were little supercomputers with sizeable screens, thus there was little need for tablets anymore. Yet, now we are seeing an increasing interest in tablets, due to being ultra-portable secondary computers. They're great if one does not need everything the traditional bulkier laptops offer, which now costs above RM3,000.
If your budget is tight but you need the latest updates, tablets like the RM2,799 Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is a great option (wi-fi). This "Fan Edition" tablet also has a couple of things most laptops don't offer: a long lifespan as well as software upgrade support of up to 7 years.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is meant for students and professionals who want a near-flagship experience at a more accessible price point which top-tier Galaxy Tab S10 or S10 Ultra models have. What you would get are key features, such as S Pen support and Google's Gemini Live, that matter most.
After spending a month with the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ (wi-fi), here's what we think.

Screen & Design
Yet, the tablet remains sleek and well-balanced, which Samsung achieves due to its slim 6mm profile and a weight of 668g (5G). In line with Samsung's premium models, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is also made with a cool aluminum frame.
To save cost, instead of an AMOLED screen, Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ comes with an IPS LCD panel with a sharp 1800 x 2880 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. For us, even in long viewing session, the LCD screen remains comfortable and vibrant to view. If you're out and about, the tablet does well in the presence of refracted sunglight on its screen.
The complimentary S Pen attaches well (and strong) at the back of the tablet too, so no worries on losing it, though we still recommend using a case to protect it when you travel with the tablet. For us, we use Samsung's official third-party keyboards for protection and better productivity which fit like a glove on the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+.

Performance
To note, our unit is the Wi-fi model. The 5G model would set you back another RM500 extra, costing RM3,299 instead.
The Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ uses Samsung's Exynos 1580 (4nm) chipset, which is a mid-range CPU that offers efficiency in app management. The tablet is available with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB ROM. Thankfully, this tablet also supports external storage with MicroSD cards (of up to 2TB) so you can store all your important documents without relying on the cloud.
Like most Samsung Galaxy products, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ comes with the One UI 7—running on Android 15—that feels fluid and responsive. Opening up most apps is as quick as a milllisecond. And the tab showed little to no signs of struggle when loading about 10 apps in the background. It also hardly goes warm.
And for extended productivity tools, you get to enjoy AI-powered features like "Circle to Search with Google" and intelligent photo editing tools right in the Gallery. For quicker and natural use, make sure to use the S Pen which felt smooth when gliding across the screen. The Bluetooth Keyboard is also highly recommended; there was hardly any noticeable lag input when typing on it.
Battery & Durability
Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ comes with 10,090 mAh battery, promising days of usage instead of hours. It charges fast with the 45W fast charging, constantly only needing just 2 hours for a full charge. Battery hardly drains when in idle after a whole day.
For extended wear and tear, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is also IP68 dust and water resistant. In the one month of it having been passed around, the glass front screen hardly contained any surface scratches. Thus, this is not a fragile tablet.

What We Liked
2TB MicroSD card Support
These days storage are getting more rare and expensive on devices. Thankfully Samsung stayed practical and ideal for users of this bracket as they are likely to need the tablet as a secondary computer for their smartphones if they do not want to rely on a desktop or laptop. Plus storage on SD cards means native storage you can access with all-time data security rather than going on the cloud (like Apple iPads).
We don't need the extra bulk already when so many of us are now on-the-go for work. If without a keyboard case, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ felt easy to hold even on just one hand. While it's not the lightest gadget to have around, the uniform design Samsung has kept on it makes it easy on the hands in terms of weight distribution.
Vibrant and Big Screen
Again, this is a huge tablet. Yet, we're happy to see how it's in a very slim and capable device that can run multiple productivity apps at once. Although being under the sun, it's not perfect in its visibility, but the colour production and quality of the glass screen makes it a stand out among many competitors who rely on "matte" displays. That tends to cut down a bit of colour in visuals unfortunately.
Long OS Support
Mentioned beforehand, many traditional laptops still do not last past 3 years in a pristine, workable manner. Especially with demanding AI tools now asking for more power consumption. Thus we are glad to see that 7 years of OS software support is guaranteed on the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+, ensuring a longer use of the tablet. This includes Android features and security updates.

What We Disliked
Pricing
Now, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is not the most balanced-specs product for its price. There are a couple of tablet brands to vie for more budget-concious Malaysians.
There's the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3-powered HONOR Magic Pad 2 that gives 12GB RAM and OLED screen for the same price. There is also the RM2,699 HUAWEI MatePad 12 X which has a good suite of producitivity office tools and a paper-matte display that would fare better for outdoors. Both have higher brightness capabilities and also 144Hz screen, compared to the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+'s 90Hz. They also have faster 66W charging, compared to Samsung's 45W charging.
But, some features better on Samsung is that Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ has an official IP68 rating, refined Galaxy AI features, quality AKG stereo speakers and SD card storage support.
Thus, you'll want to pick your battle in which specs you want the most.
Who is this for?
At a premium price of RM2,799, Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is still an interesting choice to pick, especially if you get it with a supported keyboard and for its long OS support. Students, creatives, and media consumers would find it sufficient for many scenarios. While it does not come with Dex Support, which the S10+ and Ultra has, you can still get a lot of heavy work done on the go.
