Online meetings have become a staple in our daily lives, whether it's for work, school, or catching up with friends, but sometimes you run into problems while presenting. Maybe people can't visualise what you're trying to explain to them, or maybe your Google Meet lags and crashes from too many participants.
But, Google is making it more convenient, bringing some changes to Google Meet to make content sharing more efficient and much smoother.
Share Live Videos Easily

Google Meet is introducing a new feature that lets you directly present content from any external camera feed.
- Document Cameras: Perfect for teachers showing notes, diagrams, or physical papers in clear detail.
- Video Production Tools: Ideal for companies hosting professional town halls or large webinars, streaming high-quality produced video content.
- Specialised Cameras: Think of doctors sharing live feeds from a medical camera, or scientists demonstrating experiments under a microscope.
This new ability supports up to 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second (fps).
Smoother & Sharper Screen Sharing for Everyone
We've all experienced those moments where screen sharing in a meeting isn't quite as smooth as it should be. Google Meet is addressing this with several key improvements to its overall screen sharing functionality:
- Faster Start-Up: Kicking off any type of screen sharing – whether it's your entire desktop, a specific window, or just a single browser tab – will now be quicker than before, saving precious meeting time.
- Crystal-Clear Video Quality: The quality of shared video will be sharper, with much better handling of fast-moving content.
This means scrolling text will be easier to read, and shared videos will play more smoothly, minimising choppiness. - Seamless Transitions: Ever had one presenter stop sharing, only for the meeting to momentarily go blank before the next person starts? To minimise these disruptions, Google Meet will now automatically resume any previous presentation if a second presenter stops sharing their screen.
- Easier to Find: You'll also notice a small but helpful change: the screen sharing button has been updated to be larger and positioned more intuitively alongside other key controls, making it easier to spot when you need to share.
