For a while now, the convenience of AI-generated video has largely been locked behind expensive subscriptions. But that's changing! Microsoft has just unveiled its new Bing Video Creator, a feature now available in the Bing mobile app that lets you generate short video clips using simple text descriptions, all completely free of charge.
Following the success of Bing Image Creator, which helps users bring their imaginative images to life from text, it's clear Microsoft is keen to make powerful AI video generation just as accessible to everyone.
Generate Videos For Free!

The new Bing Video Creator, powered by OpenAI's advanced Sora text-to-video model, allows users to generate short video clips on the Bing mobile app, completely for free.
This stands in contrast to direct access to Sora's features through ChatGPT's paid plans:
- ChatGPT Plus Plan: For RM80 a month (around $20), you can generate up to 50 priority videos monthly, with resolutions up to 720p and basic text-to-video features.
- ChatGPT Pro Plan: At a significantly higher cost of RM849.90 a month (about $200), this plan provides unlimited video generations in crisper 1080p. It also includes more advanced tools, such as watermark-free downloads and detailed scene editing options.
How to Create Your Own AI Videos
You'll first need to download the Bing Mobile app. To begin creating a video:
- Open the Bing Mobile app.
- Tap on the menu in the bottom right corner and select "Video Creator".
- In the prompt box, type a clear description of the video you wish to create.
a. To produce the best results, you can add more context and specify the scene by using
action-oriented language and vivid descriptions such as "dancing", "flowing",
"cinematic", "whimsical". - Click "Create" and allow the AI to generate your video.
Key Features and Availability
The generated videos are typically 5 seconds long and are currently created in a 9:16 (vertical) format, with 16:9 (horizontal) format support expected soon. You can queue up to three video generations at a time. Once a video is complete, you'll receive a notification and have options to either download it, share it via email or social media, or copy a direct link. All creations are stored for up to 90 days.
Bing Video Creator offers two different generation speeds. All users receive 10 "Fast" creations, which generate videos in seconds. After these are used, users can redeem 100 Microsoft Rewards points for additional "Fast" creations or continue using "Standard" creation speeds, which may take longer but are still free.
The Bing Video Creator is rolling out starting today, worldwide, with the exception of China and Russia. The video creator will be coming soon to desktop and within Copilot Search.
