Spotify is bringing its super popular "Jam" feature directly to your car's screen. This means you'll soon be able to start a collaborative playlist right from your car's display, letting everyone contribute their favourite tunes.

No more fumbling with phones; just good vibes and shared music for your next weekend escape.

No More Aux Cord Drama

Spotify Jam is a feature that lets all your friends add songs to one shared playlist in real-time. While it used to only be available on the Spotify app on your phone, the function is now coming to your cars. The Spotify Jam button will appear right on your car's infotainment screen if you have Android Auto or a car with Google built-in

When you're the driver (or the "host" of the Jam), you'll see a new "Jam" button appear on your car's "Now Playing" screen in Android Auto. Just tap it, and a QR code will pop up on your car's display.

Any passenger with a Spotify account (even if they're not a Premium user) can scan that QR code with their phone. Once they've scanned it, they can instantly start adding songs to your ongoing playlist from their own device! No messy Bluetooth pairing or handing over your phone needed.

Your car's screen can also show who's joined the Jam, and you, as the driver, can easily remove someone if their music taste isn't quite hitting the mark (different strokes for different folks).

This is much more inclusive than some similar features from other music services, as it doesn't require everyone to have a specific phone brand.

More Features Coming To Your Car Screens

Beyond just music, Google is cooking up more smart features for cars with "Google built-in". They're adding support for Quick Share (making it easier to send things like locations to your car's screen) and even passkey support for the car's system, boosting security.

Plus, Google is planning to introduce streaming video and browser apps as part of its Android Auto ecosystem. Soon, you might be able to watch videos (when safely parked, of course!) or browse the web directly from your car's display. This evolution shows Google's big plans to make your car's screen an even more integrated part of your digital life.

Forget the old struggle of deciding who controls the playlist or whose phone has the best songs. Now, everyone gets to contribute their favourite tunes seamlessly, making those long drives to Penang, Genting, or the East Coast truly enjoyable and harmonious. It's a small tweak that promises a big boost to your in-car entertainment, turning every journey into a collaborative music party!
