With apps like Grab or Shopee that fetches your groceries and hail your rides, these services still largely rely on human involvement to complete requests.
Now, Google is changing how we shop online by introducing AI "agents" that won't just suggest products to you, but can actually pick and pay for items on your behalf.
A Personal (AI) Shopper
Agentic AI allows bots to not only understand complex requests but also securely make purchases using tokenised payments.
Tell the AI you're after a cute yellow top, and it instantly whips up a stunning, browsable selection of images and product listings, all perfectly curated to your personal taste. But here's where it really gets clever: want a specific vibe? Try "a yellow top I can wear for an evening picnic date in KL."
The AI doesn't just search for a "yellow top"; it runs multiple smart searches at once to figure out exactly what kind of fabric breathes best in our Malaysian heat and humidity, recommending the most suitable options. Consider it your new go-to for fashion advice and practical planning!
It leverages Google's vast database of over 50 billion online products from small boutiques to large retail chains.
Price Tracking and the "Buy for Me" Option

Beyond just finding products, Google is also introducing an intelligent price tracking feature soon. You'll be able to select "track price" on any Google product listing, then specify their desired product, including specific filters like colour and size, and even set a target price you're willing to spend.
Google's AI will continuously monitor the item's price and notify you when it reaches your set budget. If you want to buy the item, all you need to do is press a "buy for me" button.
This single click will then initiate the purchase: Google's AI adds the item to the checkout cart on the merchant's website and securely completes the transaction using your pre-saved Google Pay information.
