Nothing's sub-brand, CMF, has officially launched the CMF Phone 2 Pro today in India, aiming to deliver premium features at a budget-friendly price point.
With a focus on AI integration, enhanced photography capabilities, and a distinctive modular design, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is poised to attract tech-savvy consumers seeking value without compromising on functionality.
A Looker in Design and Display
CMF Phone Pro 2 may look like its predecessor, the Phone 1, but with a colourway that stands out among competition due to its dual-tone aesthetic, featuring a unique dual-tone back panel available in vibrant orange and subtle grey, maintaining CMF's signature modular design with visible screws for accessory attachments.
The brilliant display is of a 6.77" FHD+ flexible AMOLED bright display optimized for gaming, and is capable of supporting 120fps gameplay and a 1000Hz touch response rate.
At 7.8 mm, with an ultra-light body weighing 185g, Phone 2 Pro is the slimmest Nothing smartphone yet.
CMF Phone 2 Pro also comes in four colours: White, Black, Orange and Light Green. Each one is made with slightly different materials that are elegant yet robust.
Performance and Hardware
The CMF Phone Pro 2 manages with a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset, a step up from the Phone 1's Dimensity 7300 chipset, offering up to 10% faster CPU speeds and a 5% improvement in graphics handling compared to its predecessor.
In terms of memory and storage, the Phone Pro 2 is available in two configurations: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, catering to varying user needs. 16GB RAM booster is also available on the Nothing CMF Phone Pro 2.
Balancing high performance with effective heat control, CMF Phone 2 Pro incorporates an advanced cooling system and intelligent shell temperature control strategy.
Battery is also taken care of with a 5000mAh battery supporting 33W fast charging, ensuring prolonged usage without frequent recharging. The 5000mAh battery grants about 47 hours of voice calls, 22 hours of YouTube or 10 hours of Battlegrounds Mobile gaming.
Camera System
Notably, on the CMF Phone Pro 2 you will find a triple camera setup, which is an upgrade from the CMF Phone 1 with a dual camera setup.
- 50MP Primary Sensor: Featuring a 1/1.57" sensor size, the largest in its segment, promising enhanced low-light performance.
- 50MP Telephoto Lens: Offers 2x optical zoom, a first in this price category, enabling detailed close-up shots.
- 8MP Ultra-Wide Lens: Provides a 119.5° field of view for expansive landscape and group photos.
- 16MP Front Camera for selfies and such.
Through early samples, the CMF Phone Pro 2 showcase the ability to capture detailed images across various lighting conditions, highlighting its versatile photography capabilities.
Phone 2 Pro will also leverage on advanced Ultra XDR algorithms with intelligent processing via Nothing's TrueLens Engine 3.0 to deliver professional grade light and shadow rendering.
4K recording is also a walk in the park with the Phone Pro 2, backed by an AI-powered stabilisation algorithm that crops the surrounding area to compensate for image loss, improving stability by over 200% as compared to phones without a stabilisation algorithm.
AI Features and Essential Space
It's good to see plenty of AI tools for productivity in a budget phone like the CMF Phone Pro 2. One can access AI with the Phone Pro 2's Essential Key, which is a dedicated side button that activates the "Essential Space". This is an AI-powered feature designed to organize and provide quick access to frequently used content like voice notes, screenshots, and photos.
Another promiment AI feature is Smart Collections which utilises AI to automatically categorize files, enhancing user productivity by reducing manual organization.
The CMF Phone Pro 2 is priced at RM 1,199. Malaysians can pre-order the CMF Phone Pro 2 beginning 29 May to 5 May 2025, with sales opening on 6 May 2025.
