Insta360's new X5 is the brand's most advanced 360° action camera yet. Built for creators, adventurers, and filmmakers, the X5 introduces next-gen imaging with 8K30fps video, AI-assisted low-light mode (PureVideo), and a rugged, repairable body with swappable lenses.
With smart shooting modes like InstaFrame and one-tap editing via the revamped Insta360 app, the X5 is poised for mobile 360° storytelling. It'll be priced at USD549.99 (approximately RM2,423) and available globally from April 22, 2025.

8K 360° Video with AI-Powered Image Processing

The Insta360 X5 features 1/1.28” sensors, which are 144% larger than its predecessor, the X4, thus allowing more light and greater dynamic range. Insta36- X5 is also equipped with a Triple AI Chip system (1x AI + 2x Imaging processors), giving 140% more processing power for noise reduction and sharpness.
The camera shoots in:
- 8K30fps 360°
- 5.7K60fps Active HDR
- 120fps 4K slow motion
Videos produced promises greater quality as shots are supersampled from 11K to 8K resolution, resulting in minimal loss to image quality for true-to-life shots.
PureVideo & InstaFrame Mode For Fast Shareable Content

In the Insta360 X5 is a new AI-powered night mode called PureVideo. This feature aids to enhance dynamic range and reduces noise, resulting in cinematic crisp visuals. The mode works great against city nights, starlit landscapes, and low-light events.
Other Insta360 X5 modes incldude a Me Mode, HDR, and TimeShift for dramatic motion effects.
There's also a new InstaFrame mode that makes recording, accessing and editing videos more intuitive, providing shots that do not need basic editing to be shareable. It can simultaneously capture ready-to-share, auto-framed flat videos, or a full 360° video for later reframing or cropping.
This sets for easy-editing to benefit beginners or creators who need fast content but also want options for future edits.
Industry-First Replaceable Lens System
Nothing breaks a photographer's heart more than broken gear. So if you fear breaking or scratching lens on such expensive equipment, the Insta360 X5 supports user-replaceable lenses with a dedicated Replacement Lens Kit.
Even so, Insta360 X5 is made with new ultra-durable glass and modular design — a first in 360° cameras, making them much more durable than ever to break in the first place.

Regardless of what type of an Insta360 user you are, the X5 is great for many styles of videography thanks to its durability. It's IP68-rated, having been rated waterproof up to 15m (49ft) without a case.
On the Insta360 X5 is also a 2400mAh battery with up to 3 hours of 5.7K recording in Endurance Mode. This allows up to 80% charge in 20 minutes, and 100% in 35 mins.

Other features that aid in easy-recording include a Magnetic Mounting System, Built-in Wind Guard with AI-enhanced audio and a FlowState Stabilization + 360° Horizon Lock for ultra-smooth action shots.
Not forgetting, the new Twist-to-Shoot motion trigger lets you quickly record by just flicking your selfie stick up. Otherwise, other recording methods include use of voice, gesture, remote, or Insta360 app.
Revamped Insta360 App & Cloud Workflow
Bringing in along the launch of the Insta360 is updates on its app and workflow when working with the Cloud. Now, new tools to utilise include a One-tap Dewarp which activates auto-edit, AI Edit and Quick Edit options.
Other ways the app has simplified access and edits include Shot Lab which offers 40+ AI templates, Cloud editing via Insta360+ which is to share or export from anywhere, and Studio desktop app which is free for full manual editing.
