In a significant stride toward environmental sustainability, Apple has shared a big milestone— 60% reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions compared to its 2015 baseline.
This achievement is a pivotal part of Apple 2030 initiative, aiming for complete carbon neutrality across its entire business footprint within the next five years. The company's latest Environmental Progress Report highlights substantial advancements in clean energy adoption, recycled materials usage, and supplier engagement.
Other milestones include the use of 99% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets and 99% recycled cobalt in all Apple-designed batteries.

The Premise:

Apple's commitment to sustainability extends to its product design and materials sourcing, based off its Apple 2030 initiative which is to reduce zero emissions through recycled and renewable materials, clean electricity and lower-carbon shipping.

- Waste Diversion: Through its Zero Waste Program, Apple and its suppliers diverted 600,000 tonnes of waste from landfills in 2024, totaling 3.6 million tonnes since 2015.
Additionally, Apple's Supplier Clean Water Program has led to significant water savings, with 14 billion gallons of fresh water saved in 2024 alone. Since its inception in 2013, over 90 billion gallons of fresh water have been conserved as of date.
