vivo has just launched the X200 Series at The Water Cube in Beijing, China on 14 October 2024. Themed “Far Beyond Imaging”, the new lineup includes three models: the X200, the X200 Pro, and the X200 Pro mini. The X200 series is set to be a powerhouse for creativity and innovation with significant advancements in many areas, including performance, communication, AI, battery life, and display. We were on ground at the event to witness the launch of these amazing new phones!

Built on the foundation of last year’s vivo X100 series, the vivo X200 series brings telephoto photography to another level, allowing users to capture extreme close-up images with breathtaking clarity and precision.

The X200 Series introduces a refined Telephoto Portrait mode featuring a new 135mm focal length for close-up portrait shots and a dedicated Telephoto Super Stage Mode which is perfect for live events and concerts.

Besides that, it also combines multiple modes into one singular, dedicated Super Landscape Mode for all your landscape photography needs. There’s also the Telephoto Macro Mode, which is great for shooting close-ups at a distance with amazing detail and clarity.

All these photography modes are available across the lineup, allowing you to capture both intricate details and breathtaking scenery with stunning clarity. The X200 series also introduces Live Photo format, which is now shareable on China’s Instagram equivalent, Xiaohongshu.

On top of photography, the X200 series also features professional videography on a smartphone. It allows you to shoot cinematic slow-motion recordings at 4K 120 FPS, so you can effortlessly capture subjects in motion. With support for 10-bit LOG across all focal ranges, the X200 series is able to reproduce richer colour gradients and enhanced flexibility for post-production colour grading.

Finally, there’s the 4K HDR Cinematic Portrait Video, which shoots subjects with stunning clarity and detail with artistic portrait effects even under low or backlit environments.

The vivo X200 series’ imaging capabilities is once again backed by vivo’s collaboration with ZEISS. Besides the powerful software, vivo has also worked with Sony to co-engineered the new vivo x Sony LYT-818 sensor for the vivo X200 Pro, allowing for improved power efficiency, enhanced processing power, and a more compact design.

On top of that, the X200 series also has an AI-driven large-model image quality enhancement algorithm for refining details and delivering incredibly lifelike visuals.

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 flagship chipset and vivo’s proprietary imaging chips, the X200 series is a powerhouse of a smartphone, achieving a record-breaking AnTuTu benchmark score of more than 3 million. vivo has also collaborated with Arm to establish a joint laboratory, which allowed the X200 series to excel in every aspect.

The China models of the vivo X200 series will come with OriginOS 5 and BlueLM, which in turn is equipped with top-of-the-line AI capabilities, including real-time voice interaction and translation. Unfortunately, as the Malaysian versions will not be coming with this OS, it’s still too early to say if we will be getting similar AI features.

Another new life-saving feature is also available on the X200 series: network-free communication technology that works up to 4km. It combines specialised radio hardware with proprietary protocols and algorithms. Basically, the vivo X200 is able to ping signals off of other phones in the area, allowing stranded users to call for help even without any network or satellite connection.

Lastly, the new vivo X200 series sports significant battery upgrades that allow the phone to handle even the most extreme environments. The silicon content in these phones is increased to 5%, so it has a larger capacity packed in a slimmer form. The X200 Pro sports a whopping 6,000mAh capacity, and the X200 sports a 5,800mAh battery capacity. Meanwhile, the X200 Pro mini has a battery capacity of 5,700mAh, which is still quite impressive for its small size.

Speaking of design, the vivo X200 series retains vivo’s signature aesthetics, featuring a large camera module on the top centre of the back of the phone and a perfectly symmetrical display on the front. Where the X200 and X200 Pro sports a micro-curved display, the X200 Pro mini has a slim 6.31” flat display.

When it comes to vision protection, you can also customise the screen according to your preferences. The vivo X200 series will sport a 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming technology for maximum eye comfort even in dim environments.

All models in the X200 series are available in Black and White. The vivo X200 Pro and vivo X200 are also available in Blue and Titanium, while the vivo X200 Pro mini is available in refreshing Pink and Green.

The vivo X200 Pro is priced starting from CNY5,299, while the vivo X200 Pro mini starts at CNY4,699 and the X200 starts at CNY4299.
