Natura has launched the first concentrated body moisturiser in the world, which you can activate yourself upon opening, unleashing more fresh goodness onto your skin.
The Natura EKOS Castanha Body Lotion Concentrate offers maximum biocosmetic power, combining science and nature for well-being and beauty, restoring and fortifying the skin down to its deepest layers.
The body lotion represents one of Natura's global innovation in the cosmetics market, with a focus to underscore the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Worthy of note is the refillable pack made from 100% plastic retrieved from Amazonian rivers, significantly reducing waste and driving the development of sustainable post-consumer plastic waste chains in riverside communities and recycling cooperatives.
Tatiana Ponce, CMO and head of Innovation at Natura, highlights the magnitude of this new product : “The concentrated moisturiser represents not only a global advance in body care, but also a tangible commitment to positive impact and preservation of the Amazon. Each component of this product offers the benefit of healthier skin, a more sustainable planet, and an invitation to a new way of consuming”.
With 95% natural ingredients, a rapidly absorbed, non-sticky and creamy formula, the new product has greater power in fortifying and restoring the skin, resulting in an immediate improvement in texture and intensely combating dryness. The action of the raw castanha oil, rich in omegas 6 and 9, directly combats dryness, stimulating structural proteins in the skin.
The decision to start with castanha as a pioneering bioactive was not just technical. Tatiana Ponce explains: "Castanha is one of the brand’s best loved bioactives. Moreover, we are working on a new global UEBT certification that will give this ingredient the status of Natura’s top regenerative bioactive in 2024. When we started developing this pioneering technology, we opted for an active ingredient which already has a special connection with our customers and which is distinguished by its sustainable chain.”
In addition to the innovation in its formula, the product exudes concern for circularity. The refillable bottle, made from plastic 100% retrieved from rivers in the Amazon, is reusable. The concentrate presents an 81% reduction in the use of plastic material compared with the conventional refill, decreasing waste generation by 55%. The work of collecting the forest waste is led by the Rios Vivos project, a component of the Natura Elos Amazon support program involving riverside communities in the states of Amazonas and Pará.
By generating less waste, production of the concentrated moisturiser results in a significant reduction in carbon emissions. Compared with the regular refill, the new product emits 20% fewer greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and requires 75% fewer trucks for transportation.
