The HONOR 200 Pro is HONOR’s newest mid-range smartphone, offering HONOR's signature stylish design and well-rounded features, including AI and fancy photography collaborations. And yes, we know we’re rather late with this review, but hey, better late than never, right? So, let’s get right into it!

Design & Build

The HONOR 200 Pro features a sleek design with a frosted glass back that gives it a premium feel, albeit with a slightly dated look. The large, elliptical camera module doesn’t protrude too much, so the phone can sit flat against a surface without too much wobble.

Also, it’s complemented by a shiny silver metal frame that adds to its aesthetics. At 199g and 8.2mm thickness, the device feels comfortable in hand and slips easily into pockets.

Display

The HONOR 200 Pro sports a 6.78” 1.5K OLED display, which is a pleasant surprise for a phone at its price point. Seriously, the OLED display is truly stunning, offering vibrant colours and deep blacks.

Plus, with a refresh rate of 120Hz, the screen scrolls buttery smooth with fluid animations. The display can reach up to 4,000 nits peak brightness for HDR content, making it excellent for viewing even under direct sunlight.

The one thing I disliked about the display of the phone though, is its curved screen. I’m not a fan of curved screens on smartphones in general, but the way the HONOR 200 Pro’s screen curves makes it a little bit more prone to mistouches, especially if you use swipe gestures (who doesn’t?).

Performance

Under the hood, the HONOR 200 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. While it’s not the latest flagship chip, it handles everyday tasks and most games with ease.

During our tests, the HONOR 200 Pro ran Genshin Impact and PUBG pretty well at medium graphic settings. I have to give another shoutout to the OLED screen again here, because the visuals were truly amazing here.

Running on MagicOS 8 based on Android 14, the HONOR 200 Pro’s UI is pretty clean and intuitive for those used to the Android system. But like everyone and their mothers, HONOR has jumped onto the AI bandwagon, offering a “Magic AI Experience” with the HONOR 200 Pro.

The most important AI feature on this phone is the exclusive Magic Portal. It’s a bit of a learning process trying to figure out this feature, but once you’re familiar with it, it really helps with everyday interactions like identifying objects and landmarks. It’s basically an AI-driven search tool much like Google Lens, just built into your phone.

Besides that, I also rather liked the Magic Capsule, which is a dynamic display cutout similar to Apple's Dynamic Island. It allows for easy multitasking, featuring AI enhancements for photography and daily tasks.

On the battery front, the HONOR 200 Pro is equipped with a 5,200mAh battery featuring advanced Silicon-Carbon technology. It comfortably lasts a full day with moderate use, and even with heavy usage, it performs admirably. The 100W wired charging is exceptionally fast, fully charging the device in about 50 minutes, while the 66W wireless charging offers flexibility.

Camera

The HONOR 200 Pro’s camera setup is co-engineered with world-renowned photography studio, Studio Harcourt, and trust me when I say HONOR’s really proud of this. What this collaboration brings to the table is a customized 1/1.3-inch ultra-large H9000 sensor, which allows you to capture really great portrait photography right on the phone itself.

The HONOR 200 Pro boasts a quad-camera array, including two 50MP main sensors, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP front camera. The main and telephoto lenses offer good performance, particularly in well-lit conditions.

The ultra-wide lens is versatile, doubling as a macro lens, and the telephoto lens provides up to 50x digital zoom. While the zoom quality is decent, it’s best at up to 10x in good lighting.

Conclusion

The HONOR 200 Pro is a well-rounded device that excels in design, display, and camera performance. While it has some minor drawbacks, such as occasional software issues and a slightly dated design, it remains a strong contender in its price range. For those looking for a stylish smartphone with solid performance and advanced photography features, the HONOR 200 Pro is definitely worth considering.
