Cleaning floors are the bane of my existence, I can tell you that now. Back before technology automated everything, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping could easily take up most of the day in a two-storey terraced house, especially when you have to lug buckets of water up and down the stairs and hunt down plug points for the vacuum.
Thankfully, nowadays, even housework can be relegated to technology. We have a robot vacuum now that pretty much does all three of those at the same time while I can just kick back and watch TV, but the problem with robot vacuum cleaners is that they can be rather stupid and get stuck in the randomest of places.
I thought that the Xiaomi Truclean W10 Ultra Wet Dry Vacuum, would be a nice compromise between a manual mop/vacuum and a robot vacuum, so I didn't hesitate when the brand asked me to try it out. And after putting it to the test in my home for some time, I have quite a bit to share.

Design
First off, let’s talk about the design. The Xiaomi Truclean W10 Ultra is sleek and modern, fitting seamlessly into any home decor. It’s specifically designed for hard floors and doesn’t come with any attachments or alternative brush heads, which might limit its versatility a bit, but for what it’s designed to do—cleaning hard floors—it does a fantastic job.

One of the standout features is its integrated wet mop vacuum, which can handle both dry dirt and wet spills. It even has a hot water cleaning mode for sanitizing stains, but it’s worth noting that the water heating happens in the docking station, not the vacuum unit itself, so you'll need to keep returning it back to the dock for reheating. The LED display on the unit shows the water temperature and has a feature to reheat water by cycling it back to the docking station.
Cleaning Performance
When it comes to cleaning performance, the W10 Ultra shines. It can clean almost my entire two-story house on a single charge, which is impressive. However, I did find it quite heavy, so lugging it upstairs isn’t the most fun part of the process. Still, better than having to juggle a full bucket of water and a mop.

But once you get it where you need it to be, it’s very effective at cleaning various spills. From human hair (a LOT of them) to beverage spills, this vacuum handles it all. The roller spins at 15 rotations per second and adjusts suction power automatically, which makes it very efficient.
However, one of my biggest issue with this mop is that you can't use floor-cleaning liquids with the W10 Ultra. For one, there is no separate compartment for soap or detergent, and adding the solution to the water tank in the dock doesn't work as the vacuum uses the water to also clean the mop, which isn't ideal. And when I used the vacuum mop with the soapy solution, the water foamed up due to the suction. I ended up with soapy floors that I had to mop up again with a clean mop.
Maintenance
Now, let’s talk maintenance. While the W10 Ultra has a self-cleaning mode, it’s not fully automated. You’ll need to manually activate the hot air-drying function, and the self-cleaning can be quite loud. Also, despite the self-cleaning feature, you’ll still need to disassemble the cloth and filter parts for thorough cleaning, or the cloth roller may start to smell. This isn’t a deal-breaker, but it does mean it’s not entirely hands-free.

The docking station is not too bulky, which is a relief given that it also functions as a water changing station. However, beyond storing spare parts, it doesn’t offer much additional functionality.

Conclusion
So, is the Xiaomi Truclean W10 Ultra worth it? At a little over RM2000, you could probably get a really good robot vacuum cleaner that wouldn’t require you to move around, but if you prefer something that can clean up your messes real quick, the Truclean W10 Ultra is a great buy.
It’s not suitable as a general-purpose home cleaner, especially for the lack of detergent placement, but for its intended use, it’s quite effective. Just be prepared for some manual maintenance and the occasional noisy self-cleaning cycle.
