Maybank will stop updating the Maybank2u app on June 30, 2024. As a result, it will also be removed from the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store and the Huawei AppGallery. For now, those who have it installed on their phones can still use it, but Maybank encourages customers to transition to MAE, an improved app that has more features than the former version and is more secure when it comes to banking and lifestyle needs.
Maybank will still offer comprehensive online banking services through MAE, irrespective of the absence of Maybank2u in the various app stores. For that reason, the removal of Maybank2u should not hinder customers from carrying out banking services online since they may use the MAE app or sign into the maybank2u.com.my website for banking transactions without any interruption of critical services.
Customers are also cautioned against downloading APK files from unofficial sources due to potential security risks, including malware and scams. Instead, the MAE app should be downloaded from the official app stores for a secure and comprehensive banking experience.
Relatedly, CIMB has abandoned its initial CIMBClicks mobile app, just as Maybank has theirs. The bank had done it yesterday and now wants customers to switch to its newest CIMB OCTO.
