Canon has announced the development of the EOS R1, a full-frame mirrorless camera, set to debut as the flagship model for the EOS R SYSTEM equipped with an RF mount, with an anticipated release in 2024.

The EOS R1 is tailored for professionals, merging Canon's state-of-the-art technology with unmatched performance, durability, and reliability. It promises significant enhancements in both still image and video performance, catering to the demanding needs of professionals in fields such as sports, news reporting, and video production.

Equipped with the newly developed DIGIC Accelerator image processor alongside the existing DIGIC X processor and a new CMOS sensor, the EOS R1 boasts a revolutionary image processing system. This system allows for rapid data processing and introduces groundbreaking advancements in Auto Focus (AF) and other functions.

Utilizing deep learning technology, Canon achieves high-speed and high-accuracy subject recognition. Enhanced subject tracking accuracy ensures continuous tracking even in dynamic scenarios, such as team sporting events with intersecting subjects. The AF "Action Priority" function swiftly identifies and prioritizes the main subject, capturing decisive moments effortlessly.

The synergy of the new image processing system and deep learning technology elevates image quality. Canon introduces image noise reduction, previously exclusive to PC software, as a camera function, further enhancing image quality and fostering user creativity.

Canon is currently conducting field tests for the EOS R1, supporting the capture of definitive moments at international sporting events. The company remains committed to expanding the EOS R SYSTEM lineup, offering captivating cameras and RF lenses to meet the diverse needs of users and advance photography and video culture.
