Adding 3D V-Cache technology to its Zen 4 CPU architecture, AMD has announced that its Ryzen 7000 X3D gaming processors will be available starting February 14th. There will be three different Ryzen 9 processors available: the 12-core 7900X3D, the 16-core 7950X3D, and the 8-core 7800X3D.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D was the first iteration of AMD's 3D V-cache to reach consumers, and now we have the 7000 X3D series CPUs. The 3D V-Cache technology is a type of RAM-like memory loaded directly to the CPU part to improve the speed of data access in 3D graphics-intensive applications like video games, animation, and rendering.
As mentioned earlier, AMD's Ryzen 7000 X3D series of processors include the 8-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D, the 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X3D, and the 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X3D. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D's performance was on display briefly at CES 2023, and it looked promising in comparison to Intel's i9-13900K, the undisputed king of desktop processors. In addition to its superiority over the 13900K in terms of workstation performance, the 7950X3D also boasts a massive advantage in file compression and video editing in DaVinci Resolve.
The Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs will include auto overclocking features like PBO and Curve optimizer, but manual overclocking will be limited once again due to the fact that high voltages and temperatures can cause instability with the 3D V-cache and even damage the CCD (charge-coupled device).
Also, these processors use less power overall than the previously released AMD Ryzen 7000X processor, as evidenced by their total power consumption of around 120W.
Pricing and Availability
The Ryzen 7000 series CPUs will be released separately on two dates. The Ryzen 9 7900X3D and the Ryzen 9 7950X3D will be released on February 28th, 2023 with a price tag of $599 (around RM2577) and $699 (around RM3007) respectively, while the Ryzen 7 7800X3D will be released on April 6th, 2023 priced at $449 (around RM1932).
