Samsung recently showcased its new UDR 2000 OLED display for smartphones that could boast a peak brightness of 2,000 nits at CES 2023. Certified by UL Solutions (Underwriter Laboratories), this display will offer a higher dynamic range and is poised to be an upgrade for future Samsung flagships displays in the future. That said, despite many speculations, the UDR 2000 might not be coming to the Galaxy S23 after all, according to some sources.
According to tipster Ahmad Qwaider on Twitter, the rumoured Samsung Galaxy S23 series will instead sport a nearly similar display to the Galaxy S22 lineup with a peak brightness of only 1,750 nits. If true, then that would mean that the Galaxy S23 series will have barely upgraded from its predecessors in terms of display, which is a bit of a letdown.

Samsung has earned both a UDR 1,500 and a UDR 2,000 luminance rating for its smartphone OLED displays. At CES 2023, Samsung presented a live comparison between the conventional OLED screen and its new panel, and it's safe to say that the latter showed more vibrant and vivid colours with a better dynamic range. If the UDR 2000 display doesn't feature on the Galaxy S23, then it's likely that we won't be seeing one anytime soon.
Until now, it still remains unknown which Samsung device, if any, will debut the UDR 2000 OLED display. We'll only know when the next lineup launches, which is scheduled for 2 February 2023, 2 am Malaysia time. To keep up with the news, do stay tuned to our website!
