Selangor's Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari announced in a Facebook post that the State Government will bear the cost of screening, consultation charges with a psychiatrist, basic psychotherapy treatment and drug treatment for the first two weeks of mental health treatments as part of the Selangor Mental Sihat (SEHAT) program.
The state had been preparing RM222,600 in subsidies covering 700 psychiatric treatment slots for this incentive since November last year and now, eligible Selangor residents especially B40s and those in lower income groups who wish to apply can do so by completing an initial screening through the Selangkah mobile app, under the Mental Sehat option. Approximately 60,000 people in Selangor have reportedly gone through with an early mental health screening since SEHAT's launch in 2021, as reported by Dr. Siti Mariah, Selangor state executive councillor in charge of public health, unity, and women and family development. The 312 callers who have benefited from Sehat's psychosocial support helpline are a diverse group of locals and non-Selangor residents.
