Pink Triangle Foundation (PT Foundation), a local NGO founded as an HIV and sexuality counselling provider, is giving out free PrEP starter kits for tertiary students and B40 individuals in collaboration with DBE Malaysia. Together with DBE, the organizations raised RM4,092 in December last year to sponsor more PrEP kits worth RM190 for those in need starting this month through February.
The items that will be included in the PrEP starter kit are:
- HIV and Syphilis rapid test
- Hepatitis B lab test
- Urine full examination microscopy examination (FEME)
- Doctor consultation
- A month's supply of PrEP (Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (Tenofovir DF), and Emtricitabine pills)
- Baseline blood screening (which provides results for full blood count, glucose level, cholesterol level, kidney function, and liver function)
PreEP or pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medication prescribed to stop the spread of HIV from sexual contact or injection drug use. Not to be confused with PEP (Post-exposure prophylaxis), a medication taken for those who have possibly been exposed to HIV.
If you're eligible to receive the free starter kit, you can apply before 15 January, and the redemption period for the starter kit runs from 24 January to 24 February.
Any tertiary students or individuals belonging to the B40 income group can apply for a PrEP kit by sending a DM to PT Foundation's Instagram account (@ptfmalaysia) or an email to [email protected].
