Living in a humid country like Malaysia means we're all about finding the most efficient ways to keep cool. Our nation also probably has one of the highest rates of cooling-appliance consumption in the world, given that air conditioners in malls are something unique to South East Asian countries.
But being realistic consumers, we sure aren't fans of blasting air conditioners all day in our homes and offices. That's a lot of electricity used! So here's when a Tower Fan comes in.
We were recently sent to try a Xiaomi Bladeless Tower Fan. As simple as this item is, we plugged it in without many expectations.

Our 'Mini' Xiaomi Mijia Bladeless Tower Fan Review
Upon doing so, we realised how effective it is in cooling, feeling similar to an actual air conditioner. And if anything, we're sorry to have doubted such a simple yet practical tool. The best part? This tower fan is only RM239!
Within just an hour's use, we can already imagine how well this fan would complement your already cooling and air-conditioned space. The tad-dry air it blows out is strong and cooling, and achieves a result of cold air travelling around your room so you wouldn't feel the need to push your air conditioner to a lower temperature.
Even if you don't have an air conditioner in your space, this tower fan is useful for ensuring your room stays cool and well-ventilated to get rid of humid, hot air trapped in one part of your room.
About Xiaomi Mijia Bladeless Tower Fan
This is a DC Frequency Conversion Fan, with an airflow capable of reaching 541 m³ / h. Tall and slim, this fan has an oscillating 150° Super Wide-Angle action to cool down your space quickly.
We also love that the fan is super low in noise when operating (and in normal mode; there's even a silent nighttime mode). We cannot believe that this fan is rated at 63dB. Plus the fact that it's low in energy consumption, Xiaomi has stated that using this fan all day would cost approximately as low as RM1 per day only.
The fan also supports intelligent control via voice and mobile app which you can access on your smartphone. It'll also link to your other smart home devices for a more complete, smart home experience system.

Reasons to buy
Here are some reasons why you should get a fan like the Xiaomi Mijia Bladeless Tower Fan.
1. Your room is big
Going back to what we say about this fan being complementary to an air-conditioned room; to have a room feel cool, you should ensure that hot air doesn't get trapped in a spot. So a powerful fan on the ground like the Xiaomi Mijia's will help to push away hot air and cool the room.
If your room doesn't have an air conditioner, we recommend opening up the door or windows to let breezy air ventilate so that the fan doesn't move hot air around the room instead.
2. Your room is small/temporary
This is an even better reason why you should get a Tower Fan. You see, if your room already lack space, especially if it's a temporary room for you to rest in, a powerful Tower Fan will help keep your room comfortable without you needing to invest in an actual ceiling fan or an air conditioner.
3. You really want to save electricity
It's easy to tell you to turn off your AC in order to cut down on the cost of your electricity bills. But realistically speaking, we can't do anything when it's so hot around us!
Especially for nighttime use, our favourite trick to tackle this is to have our air conditioner turn on for only an hour (timer), while the fan operates silently. When the AC is done, there'll be enough cool air for the fan to move around in your room, ensuring that you sleep in peace.
