Samsung recently announced the Galaxy Z Fold4, which is a successor to the wild-popular Galaxy Fold3.
Some things that Samsung has done in terms of the upgrade include customizable form factors, tailored experiences, and performance.
With this fourth generation, the Galaxy Z Fold4 continues to break from convention to deliver new, impactful interactions that enhance everyday life.
If you're here wondering what is the difference between the two, we're here to point them out!
Difference #1: Android OS
Like the Galaxy Z Flip4, the Galaxy Z Fold4 also has internal upgrades. However, it's slightly different here.
In fact, the Galaxy Z Fold4 is the first device to ship with OS Android 12L; a special version of Android created by Google for large-screen experiences, including foldable phones.
According to both Android and Samsung, this processor is optimised and polished for large screens, making multitasking more powerful and intuitive as well as boosting compatibility between apps.
Meant to provide a phone + tablet experience, it also now has the likes of Samsung's own Galaxy Tab S8 series layouts which is similar to your PC.
With a new taskbar, it offers access to your favourite and recent apps. Multitasking is also more intuitive, thanks to new swipe gestures. Instantly switch full-screen apps to pop-up windows or split your screen in half for more ways to multitask.
Difference #2: Better, More Durable Screen
Like the Galaxy Z Flip4, the Galaxy Z Fold4 also has a more robust overall build.
For this generation, the Galaxy Z series is now Samsung’s toughest foldable yet. They sport Armor Aluminum frames along with exclusive Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the Cover Screen and back.
Not only that but the Main Screen is also fortified with the optimized layer structure to reduce damage from external shock. Lastly, both are IPX825 certified water resistant, making the latest generation of the Galaxy Z series the first water-resistant foldable phones in the world.
Additionally; content is even more immersive and distinctive on the 7.6-inch Main Screen with a brighter screen, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a less visible Under Display Camera (UDC) which features a new scatter-type sub-pixel arrangement.
Difference #3: Camera
Now, cameras! The Galaxy Z Fold3 had lauded in praises for being innovative when it comes to dishing out cameras thanks to its form factor (see: folding the phone so you can use the rear camera to take selfies).
So yes, Samsung has managed to up the game with the Galaxy Z Fold4 too.
Now, Galaxy Z Fold4 has an upgraded 50MP wide lens and 30x Space Zoom lens. The new model comes with a variety of camera modes, including the larger Zoom map activated on Capture View Mode, Dual Preview, and Rear Cam Selfie.
Essentially, they are all custom-built to take advantage of the unique form factor for increased capturing flexibility. And with the larger pixel size, a 23 per cent brighter sensor, and enhanced processing power, users can capture clear images even at night.
