Design: Like a Diamond
For its design, the Oppo A12 features a 3D diamond blaze design on its rear, making it look like a perfectly cut diamond. Tilting the phone in various angles gives off a different burst of color and light for an alluring effect. To ensure maximum comfort while using the phone, the device is ergonomically designed and has smooth, elegant curves that fit well in the palm of one’s hands. It also has a relatively thin curved body measuring 8.3mm in thinness, and only 165g in weight.
For security purposes, a fingerprint sensor is located on the rear of the phone. Users may also unlock the phone through AI face recognition via the front camera.
Display: Crisp Colours Without Eye-Strain
The Oppo A12 features a 6.22-inch waterdrop screen. With a resolution of 720x1520 pixels, the eye-catching display is bound to immerse you in full glory of your visuals, whether you are binge-watching shows or playing games. Additionally, among the phone’s best features is its ability to filter out harmful blue light to prevent eye strain, and protect your vision for all-day enjoyment. A really thoughtful touch!
Camera: Two Lenses to Capture Every Detail
The A12 houses both a 13MP main lens and a 2MP depth lens on its rear. While the former captures every detail to produce crisp and clear photos, the latter creates a bokeh blurring-effect at the hardware level to turn your photos into looking as if they were professionally captured.
Performance: Lots of Smart Features!

Equipped with a 12 nm-class octa-core processor, the A12 promises to deliver smooth gameplay and an undisrupted viewing experience. For work purposes, this means that users can easily switch between apps and be assured that the phone will continue running smoothly. While the A12 has a native storage capacity of 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, this is expandable to 256GB to allow users to save more of their favorite pictures, songs and even apps.
The phone’s in-built 4230mAh battery allows for up to 17 hours of streaming HD videos, or up to 8 hours of games. If you’re constantly driving on the road (as most of us often are), Oppo has also introduced a Riding Mode feature built into the device. This feature allows you to stay focused and safe by blocking out unimportant calls and notifications while you’re driving. We found this quite similar to the Apple Do Not Disturb feature, however Oppo’s version does not send ‘Do Not Disturb’ alerts to the sender/caller – something that we actually much prefer.
For those who like to stay organised, the Smart Assistant feature on the phone allows you to check your calendar, stay updated on news, and even track your fitness all on one screen. The A12 also includes a Smart Sidebar that allows you to access files, take screenshots and more, all from the app currently in use.
Audiophiles, this one’s for you! Built into the A12 is also Oppo’s Dirac feature which automatically switches between smart audio modes to optimise sound quality depending on what you’re doing – whether playing games, streaming Netflix, or listening to music. This means that whatever you hear, it will be a true-to-life, immersive experience.
Yay or Nay?
The Oppo A12 is much like a basic budget smartphone, however with extended features. There is no doubt that it will be able to keep up with daily tasks and regular lifestyles. Nonetheless, what we like most about it is its great battery life and smart features such as the Dirac technology. Essentially, these are details that help make life easier and give us one less thing to worry about. And for that, we are sold!
The A12 is currently retailing at RM 599.00 and is available in both black and blue colors.
