It’s no secret that anti-ageing beauty practices have been around since the early days of human civilisation. With technology and scientific discoveries every day, contemporary anti-ageing beauty products are much more available for the majority.
Do anti-ageing products work?
Many people perceive anti-ageing products as a beauty gimmick that reverses your looks back to its earlier days of youth.
That’s just incorrect. In fact, these products are meant to help you maintain and restore the skin to its healthiest.
Most anti-ageing products commonly contain Retinol (Retinoids), a natural vitamin A that boosts the production of collagen to give the skin elasticity. It also stimulates the production of blood vessels to help improve skin complexion. Additionally, most products contain moisturising properties to aid in reducing line formation that frequently happens if your skin is not hydrated enough.
In a nutshell, anti-ageing beauty products will give you:
- A healthy, glowing complexion
- Moisturised/hydrated skin
- Firm and supple skin
These are all secrets to looking youthful. Hence, it is why you should start incorporating anti-ageing products into your skincare routine as early as in your 20s if you want to age gracefully.
Product & its claim
We recently got to try Swiss Line’s Youth Booster from their Cell Shock Age Intelligence series, where the series is made to improve skin structure and reduce wrinkles by 15%.
The Youth Booster, in particular, helps with long-term pore refinement, increase the production of natural collagen as well as encouraging surface exfoliation to remove dead skin cells. Essentially, the booster smoothens while fading skin discolouration.
Additionally, we also got to test their Eye Zone Booster from the same series. This booster is designed to de-puff, lighten eye shadows as well as smooth fine lines, all of which are common woes of irregular sleepers.
How to use
A great benefit to most of Swiss Line’s boosters is their flexible nature to be mixed into your skincare products be it your drugstore moisturiser or serum from Sephora. This holds true for the Youth Booster, but not for the Eye Zone booster.
How to use Swiss Line’s Youth Booster:
- Place a couple of drops (as needed) onto your palm
- Mix it with a dollop of your serum, or use it on its own for a stronger effect
- Apply only at night (before your moisturiser)
How to use Swiss Line’s Eye Zone Booster:
- Apply a drop onto your fourth finger
- Distribute and massage onto both under eyes with the same finger
- Use in the morning and/or at night
Results
Quick-stop about my skin:
I hardly suffer from enlarged pores or uneven skin texture and maintain my face by cleansing regularly with cold water. However, I do have a bad habit of sleeping irregularly, which contributes to my dark circles and eye bags (which I may or may not naturally be born with.)
Cell Shock Youth Booster review:
The booster contains encapsulated (pure) retinol together with next generations of retinoids. This ensures stability in repairing and maintaining the effects you get from the booster. Also formulated with Retinyl Palmitate, this helps to encourage the growth of new skin cells in order to fill in wrinkles and fine lines, making your skin appear fuller and firm.
It took me a couple of days to see that my pores are starting to look more refined and smoother. They are by no means invisible, but much more uniform in size. While in the process of reviewing, I also noticed that my face felt more supple and glowy the morning after, which gradually reduces my plain, one-dimensional complexion.
Eye Zone Booster review:
For this booster, it’s formulated with caffeine, which helps to detoxify tissues and reduce fat deposits as well as puffiness around the eyes. As caffeine penetrates into the skin and into the blood capillaries, this helps to reduce congestion and blotchiness (which causes the look of dark eye circles).
In addition, the booster also contains ceramides, a very moisturizing property that helps to strengthen and restore smoothness to the skin texture.
My dark eye circles took a while longer to fade off
This booster reminded me of my Khiel’s Midnight Recovery Eye cream, which works and feels similar to the Eye Zone Booster. After a couple of days use, I can attest that the booster dived straight into de-puffing my eye bags caused by my sleeping habits while gradually fading off my dark circles. And this is all with just a single drop to massage over both eyes.
Conclusion
To those who’d like to target a skin issue by customising their beauty products instead of layering on another product can look to using the boosters from this line. While results weren’t significant for me, they still work as claimed and is best for those who are looking to maintain their skin instead of treating anything in dire conditions quickly.
The Eye Zone Booster retails for RM 358 whereas the Youth Booster retails for RM 408. You can get both boosters at over 50 Cheerful Beautique beauty salons including Energy Day Spa in Great Eastern Mall (Ampang).
