Summary

Akitakomachi rice is among Japan's most popular rice grains. It is well known to be ideal for making sushi, mochi and onigiri because of its sticky texture. High in starch content, it is also able to hold together without being mushy pieces. This grain has a chewy texture that is firm with a hint of natural sweetness that pairs well with many types of dishes. No rinsing is required thus making preparation even more convenient. Unlike typically packed Japanese rice which is milled and processed then flown in from Japan, Kitoku Akita's grains are first flown from Japan, then milled in Singapore itself and then polished daily before being packed out for consumption. Hence, making it a fresher option to purchase locally.
