Singaporean Chicken Rice Store Delivers Food To Hospitals For Free

Is someone chopping onions in here?

The saying is true for the sentence: "Not all heroes wear capes". Amidst the calamity of the coronavirus outbreak aka COVID-19, we are still truly blessed and braving ourselves to stay as calm and generous as possible.

There are many fellow locals and merchants handing out masks for free and placing bottles of hand sanitizers for public use. Also, the country's medical and healthcare workers, as well as food delivery services, are working harder than ever to meet the demands of the island.

That fact alone may cause them to work overtime in order to keep us customers safe and satisfied, and thus leaving them with less personal time such as a proper lunch break and regular sleep hours.

Recently, a Chicken Rice Stall owner tugged on the heartstrings of Singaporeans by offering to deliver chicken rice to hospitals for free.

Mr. Daniel Tan, the owner of OK Chicken, said in a Facebook post:

We wish to thank our medical team working at the front lines especially in these trying times by organizing a "cheer-up" campaign for them!

Join us by sponsoring $3 for each package that we deliver to them! (Balance 50% & Delivery charges waived)

Participants can donate via QR pay (provided in the Facebook post) or PayNow, and leave evidence of their deed by commenting "Frontline Heroes".

To date, the store has managed to raise S$19.9k worth of donations and is also expanding the cause to any front-liners, including but not limited to government, security and volunteering.

If you'd like to show more support, OK Chicken can be found in Ang Mo Kio. A plate of their chicken rice costs about S$5.90.
