Product in this article

Whether you are busy keying in data entry work or stuck with endless hours of programming, a good keyboard is essential. The right one will provide a much more comfortable, less tiring and extremely productive experience. From a speedy gaming keyboard to an ergonomic device to support your wrists, here are the top keyboards out there to suit all your typing needs.

What is the best keyboard position for typing?

Did you know that bad posture and incorrect positioning of the keyboard can affect your typing speed? Finding the right position for your computer accessory is one of the most important factors in achieving an ergonomic workstation. Here are a few tips to ensure improved typing speed without experiencing strain or injury.

  1. Position your keyboard and screen in front of you
Make sure the keyboard is not positioned to the side such that you’ll need to twist your body to use them. Keep them directly in front of you and as central as possible to keep your shoulders in a natural position and to avoid any unnecessary strain.
  2. Position the keyboard at about elbow height
With the keyboard the same height as your rested elbows and forearms, your shoulders can fall relaxed by your side preventing the risk of musculoskeletal injury.
  3. Place the keyboard close to the front of the desk
Make sure the keyboard is placed near you such that you do not need to stretch to use it. The ideal position is to keep the keyboard approximately 5 cm from the edge of the desk to give enough room for wrist support.
  4. Rest your hands and wrist when not typing
Hovering your hands over the keyboard when you’re not typing causes unnecessary strain on your arms and shoulders. It is also recommended to do some wrist and arm exercises every 30 minutes or so.
