We Can’t Get Over These Two Powerful Yet Affordable Bluetooth Speakers

...because sound does matter

Last week, we spent our time with not one, but two similar yet indistinguishable portable speakers from the same brand. Mifa is a brand still new here in Malaysia, an underdog in the world of Bluetooth speakers. We got the chance to test out their bestselling A20 and A10 speakers, the former in black and the latter in a graffiti-style print.

Do They Look Good?

The A20 comes in two color options: black and silver, but we understand the limited color options. Its sleek body carved from aviatic aluminium has it looking classy and would be a good pick for minimalists. Although it is portable, it is also heavier compared to the A10, which makes it quite uncomfortable to carry around.

The Mifa A10, on the other hand, is significantly lighter and smaller than it's brother, allowing you to carry it around with great ease. Compared to the A20, this model comes in more colors and designs like blue and camo, something we believe is catered for those young at heart.

Did we forget to mention? Both speakers are rated IP45, making them dust-proof and water resistant (not entirely waterproof, mind you). Heading to a party, come rain or shine will no longer be a matter in question.

How's the Sound Quality Like?

Both the A20 and A10 have exceptional sound quality, especially for the price you pay. The A20's wireless Hi-Fi system sounds like a dream, and could be turned up to full volume without a struggle, while still maintaining its quality. Bass and treble perfectly balanced, it would do good as party speakers or a mini home stereo system.

The A10, however, starts to scramble quite a bit once the loudness turns up to about 65%. The bass begins to muffle, and the sound as a whole starts to become dense. Notwithstanding, its sound quality is still crisp and clear (when not turned up too loud) - perfect for podcasts and a bedtime music player.

Do They Last Long, Though?

Both speakers have outstanding battery life. For the A20, they claim that a full charge would let it play out loud for up to 12 hours. At full charge, we left the A20 blasting away, with the volume turned up to above 85%, and lasted about a solid 10 hours. Note that we didn't leave it playing until the battery died, but we are already impressed at the amount of playtime it could give based on just a 4.5 hour-long charge.

The A10 didn't disappoint either. A full charge would take 3 hours and lasts up to 16 hours. Unfortunately, as the sound quality is not as superior as the A20, we didn't use it as much.

Both the A20 and A10 come with inbuilt 4,000 mAh and 2,200 mAh Lithium batteries respectively.

How About Connectivity?

Both A20 and A10 come with Bluetooth 4.2 for easy and quick pairing. With a range of up to 33 feet (10 meters), connecting your device to the speakers is notably effortless. It also recognizes and auto-connects the speakers to the last-used device if the device's Bluetooth is switched on. Convenient, much? Both speakers have micro SD slots and AUX inputs too, so you won't face any issues getting the party started even if you've problems with your Bluetooth.

That aside, what we really love about these speakers is the ability to pair two of the same speakers together. This means you'll need to have two A20s or two A10s connected via Mifa's TWS function. Hello, surround sound.

So, Which Speaker Should I Get?

Both speakers have each their own speciality, from sound and function to battery life and design. Get the A20 if you all about loud music and pool parties, but go for the A10 if softer music and style is your main preference. Personally, though, we do prefer the A20. You can get the MIFA A20 at Lazada for RM 189 and the MIFA A10 for RM 109.
